My Health, My Data Act

This privacy law protects a broad range of consumer health including reproductive, mental health, and location-based information. It also mandates businesses to obtain consent before collecting or sharing such data and restricts practices like geofencing near healthcare facilities.

People's Privacy Act

This bill requires data minimization, bans the sale of sensitive data, prohibits targeted ads to children and teens, and enables both private lawsuits under the state Consumer Protection Act and enforcement by the Attorney General.

Looking Ahead

There is a couple of new bills that are coming out to improve the digital data security in the state. One of these could be House Bill 1205, which aims to improve the definition of criminal impersonation on the internet to include knowingly distributing deepfakes of images or recordings with intent to defraud, threaten, or intimidate residents.
